BUKIT PANJANG GOVERNMENT HIGH SCHOOL

Bukit Panjang Government High School was one of the first 6 schools in Singapore to be granted autonomous status by the Ministry of Education in 1994.

This high School has a total of 39 classes and an enrolment of approximately 1584 students Bukit Panjang Government High School required a combination of both Time Attendance and Access Control systems to streamline their operations on the premises.

  • Ability to record attendances of both Teachers and Students quickly and efficiently.
  • Need for robustness and capable of processing thousands of transactions daily.
  • Restrict access to certain areas of the premises such as Teacher’s lounge.
  • Compatibility with Singapore’s “EZ-Link” CEPAS smartcard technology.
  • ACTAtek combination units (fingerprint and embedded Felica Modules) were selected.
  • 1500+ students & staff, multiple events each day.
  • Data collected by bespoke application provided by NGK Software.
  • Installed of 12 units: students to log IN/OUT teachers’ block, strictly for teachers only and administrative block.
  • Ethernet connection via a hub.
  • Static IP addressing.
  • Server running ACTAtek Agent in real time.
  • Units “pushing” data in 10 min intervals.

All students and staff would log IN/OUT their attendance using a combination of their Smart Card and fingerprint authentication. For enrolment of new users, the administrator uses PC based ACTAtek LogiPrint and ACTAtek Sync to synchronize new users to respective ACTAtek units. (Note:ACTAtek had released the new FingerPrint plus Smart Card Hybri-Model which can read new Singapore CEPAS card together with FingerPrint Authentication.)

Overall Bukit Panjang Government High School was satisfied with the complete solution that ACTAtek provided them.

VICTORIA EDUCATION (HONG KONG)

Victoria Educational Organisation was founded in 1965 and has been providing high quality childhood education for over 40 years, comprising nurseries & kindergartens in the Hong Kong and China regions.

  • Victoria Educational Organisation employs approximately around 500 people.
  • They required an affordable Time Attendance system that allows quick, easy access to punctuality and time attendance records of their workforce.
  • Preferred software to use their own existing HR software so compatibility is key.
  • They also required Access Control facilities to secure their computer servers against unauthorised access and use.

ACTAtek listened to Victoria Educational Organisation’s requirements and provided them the following solutions:

Victoria Educational Organisation had little trouble adapting to the new system and was able to benefit from new technologies that the ACTAtek system offered with minimum disruption. They were pleased with the ease of use the ACTAtek terminal provides to the user and found it surprisingly affordable given the vast set of features it offers and would recommend such unit to others as a result.

GOVERNMENT OF MACAU

Following the handover to the PRC in 1999, the Government of Macau controls and administer key issues within the region, ranging from public transport, education, local legislation and economic & public finances.

  • Approximately over 2000 people working for the Government of Macau, they required a Time Attendance & Access Control system.
  • Needs to be compatible with their current payroll software.
  • Capable of capturing photos of each user when a transaction is made.

Solutions provided by ACTAtek:

Overall the Government of Macau was pleased to see how easily ACTAtek’s Time Attendance and Access Control solution was able to fit into the their existing system infrastructure, virtually requiring no changes to their existing backend software platform as a result which enables them to save time and costs from potentially having to install a completely new system and having to retrain its staff as a result. As a result the Macau Government highly recommends our ACTAtek solution to others.

HSBC BANK (EGYPT)

HSBC (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation) is one of the World’s largest banking groups and the World’s 6th largest company according to composite measure of Forbes. Initially started its banking operations in Asia, the group has expanded its presence across the World to cater a wide range of customer needs from financial lending, investments, insurance and savings.

HSBC Bank Egypt required a robust Time Attendance system that can cater hundreds through their 40+ strong network of branches. With the large amount of user transactions that is on hand, HSBC Bank Egypt needed assurance of a system that can cope with the stringent usage demands required by the bank.

ACTAtek was entrusted by HSBC Bank Egypt to deliver a capable Time Attendance system and provided them the following solutions:

  • Up to 100x ACTAtek HID Proximity Smart Card based systems with 3000 user capacity (ACTA-3K-S-Hp) installed at over 40 branches of HSBC Bank Egypt.
  • Network ready with built in RJ-45 LAN connectivity for scalable deployment.
  • Configurable Primary/Secondary setup with designated IP Address facility.
  • Event logs are pooled using ACTAtek’s embedded web based technology for easy remote administration and work management.
  • ACTAtek’s web based technology allows administrators to configure settings using a standard web browser of their chosen platform such as Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
  • ACTAtek Sync middleware was used to synchronise data from multiple units to the central server.
  • Third party software integration allows customisable Time Attendance software using components of the ACTAtek SOAP SDK.

The units were installed and deployed successfully over many of HSBC Bank of Egypt’s network branches. HSBC Bank of Egypt was able to take advantage of ACTAtek’s innovative technologies and was pleased with the results that the ACTAtek systems delivered for their Time Attendance requirements.

NSGB BANK (EGYPT)

Since its establishment in 1978, NSGB is one of Egypt’s largest private banks. NSGB traditionally focused on corporate banking with large clients. NSGB was created by Société Générale, one of Europe’s largest banks and the National Bank of Egypt.

  • Required a robust Time Attendance and Access Control system to cater up to 3000 users, with option to increase capacity in the future.
  • Has multiple branches therefore needed to be connected over multiple locations.
  • Data is needed to be pooled from these sites into the NSGB’s main headquarters.

ACTAtek helped NSGB by providing them the following solutions:

  • 150x ACTAtek combination models (ACTA-3K-FS-M) were deployed in many of the bank’s branches and the main headquarters. Many were eventually upgraded later to increase user capacity of up to 5000 users (ACTA-5K-FS-M).
  • Flexible authentication options including optical biometric fingerprint and smart card technology.
  • Access Control facilities are built in for security management of employees and restricted areas, save costs with a unified system to avoid unnecessary additional hardware.
  • Network ready with built in LAN connectivity for multiple site installation.
  • Configurable Primary/Secondary setup with designated IP Address facility.
  • All ACTAtek units are synchronized using ACTAtek Sync, where the event log data are transmitted to the central database in real time.
  • ACTAtek Agent middleware helps collects data event log data from multiple terminals in either real-time or time scheduled mode into the database server.
  • Third party software integration allows customisable Time Attendance software provided by the vendor with components of the SOAP SDK.

There were minor issues with the Primary/Secondary setup but it was resolved with assistance from the ACTAtek Technical Support team. Additional tools and software were deployed to help remedy issues to fit the needs required by NSGB bank.

BANK OF EAST ASIA (BEA) MACAU

Incorporated in Hong Kong at 1918, The Bank of East Asia (BEA) plies its trade in the banking sector, dedicated to providing comprehensive retail and commercial banking services to all its customers in Hong Kong, Greater China, and Overseas.

The Macau branch of BEA required an Access Control and Time Attendance system to cater for their 200 employees.

  • Previously was using keypad for Access Control but felt no longer fit for purpose.
  • Needed it to be affordable within their budget.
  • Wanted Biometric Fingerprint Authentication for increased security against unauthorised use and reliable data integrity.
  • BEA Macau was keen on convenience of employees no longer requiring smart card’s as all they need is their unique fingerprint to access the premises.
  • Wanted a system that can streamline all employee records quickly and easily over a remote site.

ACTAtek acknowledged BEA Macau’s requirements and implemented their bespoke Time Attendance & Access Control solution.

  • ACTAtek’s integrated biometric fingerprint technology on the terminal prevents problems of “Buddy Punching” where employees may pass on their ID’s to clock in despite not being present on the site.
  • ACTAtek TA software included in the solution has been designed to simplify user management with automated wage calculations and generated reports.
  • Web based technology from the ACTAtek TA software enables users to access information on the reports from almost any location in the World.

BEA of Macau was able to utilise the advanced, fully featured biometric Time Attendance and Access Control system without compromising on quality, ease of use and affordability. They praised the service and the solution provided by ACTAtek and highly recommends them to others clients.

BALI PSYCHIATRIC CENTER DOH (TAIWAN)

The Bali Psychiatric Center (Department of Health) based in Taiwan offers mental psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation services for vulnerable people within the local community.

  • Employing around 300 people to cater for their healthcare services, Bali needed a time attendance system with RFID smart card identification built in.
  • Required the ability to take photo time stamps of each transaction made by workers for verification purposes and security within the premises

ACTAtek in conjunction with Aviso Tech Inc of Taiwan incorporated the following solution for Bali Psychiatric Center:

  • ACTAtek TA provides detailed analysis on registered employees as well as their photos to compare against each transaction made.

Bali was overall pleased with the levels of support and the efficiency of service provided by ACTAtek and Aviso Tech Inc. for their Time Attendance requirements and would highly recommend the system for others as well.

CARITAS CARE HOME

The Li Ka Shing Foundation was created by Mr Li Ka Shing to help aid the poor and vulnerable members of society after suffering hardship himself early in his life. He emphasised the importance of good healthcare and access to education and created many establishments of elderly care homes and community health centres

  • The Li Ka Shing Caritas Care Home employs 350 people on site, their job is to help care and cater elderly patients needs on the premises.
  • Cited past difficulties retrieving records which prompted them to make a decision to look for a new system
  • Required a simple to use and reliable Time Attendance that can efficiently monitor their staff’s attendance and punctuality records.
  • Preferred software to use their own existing HR software so compatibility is key.

ACTAtek listened to the requirements and provided the following solution:

As a result, Li Ka Shing Caritas Care Home was overall highly satisfied with the solution and would heartily recommend it to other care homes under the foundation.

KOWLOON HOSPITAL (HONG KONG)

Kowloon Hospital is a general care hospital based in Prince Edward Road in Mong Kok of Kowloon in Hong Kong. The hospital specialises services in psychiatry, rehabilitation, respiratory medicine and geriatrics.

  • The hospital’s operation team has around 300 people on site.
  • Required a robust Time Attendance to monitor their employees.
  • Needed a facility to take snapshots of each transaction made by the employee.
  • Has an existing Time Attendance software already in place so required a system that was compatible and easy to integrate.

ACTAtek PTE offered Kowloon Hospital its services by implementing the following solutions:

SHANGHAI XIAO NAN GUO CUISINE RESTAURANT

Shanghai Xiao Nan Guo Cuisine Restaurant redefines Chinese cuisine by combining tradition, current trends, and science to provide customers with the freshest and delicious food available. The restaurant’s cuisine enthuse creativity and reflects the spirit of Chinese Cooking.

Noticing difficulties gathering all the necessary attendance records of their employees on a daily basis, Shanghai Xiao Nan Guo Cuisine Restaurant required a Time Attendance system that can streamline their operations on the premises.

  • Ability to record all transactions made by their employees quickly and efficiently.
  • Robust enough to handle hundreds of transactions made by the restaurant’s 200 employees.
  • Preferred ID Smart Card technology with capability to provide snapshots of each transaction made by the user.

Shanghai Xiao Nan Guo Cuisine Restaurant are highly satisfied with ACTAtek’s hardware application and their IT provider, Anterport System Limited for their Time Attendance solution. PACIFIC COFFEE (HONG KONG)

Established in 1992, Pacific Coffee Company has been providing world-class coffee to satisfy Hong Kong and Singapore’s growing demand for specialty coffee beverages. Since then Pacific Coffee have expanded to cater their trade in China and Macau regions as well, boasting over 50 branches in its portfolio.

  • Branches of Pacific Coffee hires approximately 15 people on site.
  • Required a robust Time Attendance solution that can accommodate their existing TA and Payroll software.
  • Wanted a solution that can also prevent “buddy punching” where employees may fraudulently pass on IDs to clock in.

Pacific Coffee turned to ACTAtek to provide them the ideal Time Attendance solution for their requirements:

The ACTAtek solution was initially implemented in a trial phase to ensure the system met Pacific Coffee’s standards and the employees were able to use the system efficiently. There were a few minor problems with the cleaning staff but was quickly rectified with helpful advice from the local support team. Overall Pacific Coffee were impressed with the levels of service and the system from ACTAtek and would recommend the system to their other branches as well.

HANG YICK PROPERTIES MANAGEMENT LIMITED

Established since 1974, Hang Yick Properties Management Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Henderson Land Development Company Limited that specializes in the property management industry in Hong Kong, China. Their Headquarters are based in the International Finance Center (2FC).

  • Approximately 2000 employees working for the company.
  • Needed a Time Attendance system that’s capable of coping large volumes of transactions from their employees.
  • Also required an access control system for use at their main headquarters providing security against unauthorized access at the premises.
  • Previously used Motorola Card Readers for their Time Attendance and Access Control setup and wanted to upgrade to a more efficient system.
  • Preferred to have biometric fingerprint technology, citing better management potential and reduced administration in regards to issuing and setting up smart cards for its employees.

ACTAtek listened to Hang Yick’s requirements and offered them the following solution:

  • Terminals are integrated with door lock mechanisms to prevent intruders accessing the site for Access Control.
  • ACTAtek TA software allows senior managers to quickly analyse employee records and attendance reports.
  • ACTAtek’s TA also allows report payroll integration to reduce administration times and utilise maximise productive efficiency.

Initially there were data synchronization issues during the early phases but was quickly dealt and assisted by ACTAtek’s Technical Support team which was praised by Hang Yick for their quick and efficient support when needed. As a result, Hang Yick Properties Management Limited was highly satisfied with the system and would recommend it to others.

MUIRFIELD CONTRACTS (SCOTLAND, UK)

Founded in 1988, Muirfield is an established and successful building contractor in Scotland, United Kingdom. Currently they’re building a school (Kingspark School) in Dundee, Scotland.

ACTAtek helped provided Muirfield Contracts the following solution:

  • Around 200 employees are contracted to construct the school.
  • Muirfield required a robust and reliable Time Attendance and Access Control system to manage their employee’s attendance as well as providing a safe environment by preventing unauthorised trespassers accessing the construction site.
  • 2x ACTAtek Fingerprint Model (ACTA-1K-FP) was chosen for the site.
  • ACTAtek units uses built in relays which controls the HEET turnstiles to access the site.
  • ACTAtek units are IP 65 Certified certification for resistance of environmental elements for outdoor installation.

Muirfield did initially ran into some problems with the installation in the early phase. But this was quickly resolved by ACTAtek’s dedicated technical support team by providing an engineer onsite to quickly troubleshoot the misplaced wiring to correct the fault. He also provided advice on best practices to use the ACTAtek efficiently.

Muirfield was impressed by the features that the ACTAtek Fingerprint Model & ACTAtek TA solution provided and have praised the dedicated support team to help them on their enquiries, which lead them to highly recommend ACTAtek for cleints that work in similar industries.

ONE CENTRAL (MACAU)

Hongkong Land Limited and Shun Tak Holdings Limited property developers had both jointly completed the One Central project, an executive waterfront mixed-used project combining phenomenal residential apartments and a world-class hotel managed by The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

The complex caters an exclusive world-class shopping centre constructed along the waterfront will house flagship stores of globally renowned fashion icons.

One Central Macau required a Time Attendance and Access control solution that can cater over 200 people on the premises.

  • System integrator “Jardine One Solutions LTD (Macau)” recommended One Central Macau the award winning ACTAtek Biometric Fingerprint terminal.
  • Fingerprint authentication prevents ID swapping problems as each fingerprint is unique to the person.
  • ACTAtek’s optical fingerprint sensors as standard for accurate and reliable recordings for long periods of use.
  • ACTAtek’s all in one solution and standalone server setup saves time and costs from purchasing additional equipment and unnecessary hardware.
  • Terminal installed on the One Central’s network system to the main router hub with static IP address.
  • ACTAtek embedded web-based software built in the terminal allows simple management of employees, event logs and database exporting facilities on a standard web browser.

HYATT REGENCY HK (DYNASTY CLUB)

The Dynasty Club, based inside the Grand Hyatt hotel in Wan Chai, Hong Kong is an exclusive membership club that provides executive levels of amenities and recreational activities from active sports to relaxation sessions. They pride themselves in offering its members a completely unforgettable experience where they can enjoy and unwind within its luxurious surroundings.

  • The Hyatt Dynasty Club needed a Time Attendance system that can cater for 150 of their staff.
  • Compatible with their existing human resource and payroll management system.

ACTAtek in partnership with CiF Solutions LTD provided them the following solution:

  • Biggest issue was compatibility to avoid install a new system. ACTAtek’s Time Attendance solution allows seamless hardware & software compatibility with many existing HR & Payroll systems.

As compatibility was the forefront of this project, the Hyatt Dynasty Club was able to benefit from new technologies that the ACTAtek system offered yet was able to streamline their workforce management using their existing HRM and payroll applications.

OCEAN PARK (HONG KONG)

Ocean Park is a marine-themed amusement park situated in the Southern District of Hong Kong. Founded in 1977, Ocean Park has won several awards, including The World’s Seventh Most Popular Amusement Park and 33rd Most Visited Tourist Attractions in the World by Forbes.

  • Ocean Park employs around 480 people on the premises.
  • Requirements were a robust, reliable and affordable time attendance system.
  • Ocean Park had noted difficulties maintaining and monitoring their staff’s punctuality and attendance records with previous systems.
  • ACTAtek, in conjunction with Forward Technology Limited provided Ocean Park with a customised Time Attendance solution.
  • ACTAtek Smart Cards & Biometric Fingerprint units deployed on site with flexibility to choose authentication methods.

DAIRY FARM (HONG KONG)

Dairy Farm International Holdings Limited is a leading pan-Asian retailer. As of 30th June 2008, the Group and its associates operated over 4,359 outlets – including local supermarket chains, hypermarkets, health and beauty stores, convenience stores, home furnishings stores and restaurants.

  • Dairy Farm required a combination of both time attendance and access control systems.
  • Needed to cater 600+ users on the premises.
  • Dairy Farm wanted a system that is capable of logging all attendance records and event logs such as IN/OUT but in a manner where they can pool all this data out easily and quickly.

ACTAtek provided Dairy Farm the following solution:

  • ACTAtek Mifare Smart Card Units with built in CMOS camera and external readers implemented.
  • CMOS Camera takes snapshot of each transaction made per user.
  • ACTAtek Agent connecting to IP Network via Oracle Central Database.
  • The site for the system installation is around 10,000 sq. ft. area on one whole floor at their office located in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong.
  • ACTAtek implemented the Smart Card terminal and CMOS camera for their Time Attendance usage for shifting schedule and Payroll purpose of the employees without the Door Access.
  • Only Administrative and the Departments Heads are being given the authority to have the Super Administrative access to control the ACTAtek units.
  • All units are connected with primary and secondary formats.
  • Main building has TCP/IP network and all the ACTAtek units are assigned with designated the IP address so that the Administrator can use any PC browser.
  • Adminiastrators can configure checking the Event Log In/Out of all the employees which are then sent to the Oracle Central Server for Payroll processing by ACTAtek Agent.
  • ACTAtek Sync provides synchronization of data to all the ACTAtek units on site and is pushed into the Oracle database on the server.

Overall Dairy Farm was pleased with the way the installation and the new system handled and recommends the system to others. SQUARE PHARMACEUTICALS LTD (BANGLADESH)

SQUARE Pharmaceuticals Limited is the largest pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh and has been continuously in the 1st position among all national and multinational pharmaceutical companies since 1985.

SQUARE Pharmaceuticals Limited required a Time Attendance system that can cater for their 1200+ employees at the factory. Their main requirements were:

  • The system must be robust and can withstand the tough conditions in the factory.
  • Needed the system to be compatible with their existing Oracle database on server.
  • Time Attendance and Employee Hours Shifting. Each worker are required to log in/out for the shifting hours and all the data direct to their server for HR use.

Located in Kent, the Garden of England, Mansfields is one of the largest growers and packers of top, stone and soft fruit with over 40 years experience. The family run business is the UK’s biggest apple grower and largest UK cherry grower, whilst also growing pears, plums and strawberries in significant volumes for the trade.

  • Mansfields hires approximately of up to 200 people on site per shift.
  • Shifts alternate frequently and requires lots of daily transactions from the users.
  • Mansfields required a Time Attendance solution that can cater high transaction loads and have preventative measures to combat against problems of “buddy punching” where employees may pass on their details to clock in despite not being on the site.

KEPPEL SHIPYARD PTE LIMITED (SINGAPORE)

With experience that dates back to more than a century ago, Keppel Shipyard based in Singapore has become a leading ship repair yards in the world, having proven its reliability and commitment to excellence in ship repair, conversion and construction services time and again.

  • Keppel Shipyard has approximately a total of 2000+ Shipyard workers on the premises.
  • Required a robust time attendance system that offered advanced authentication methods such as biometric fingerprint and smart card technology for data reliability and integrity.
  • They also required the ability to allow multiple site installation that can be synchronised up to a central server to reduce the need for the worker to enrol at every single terminal.

Keppel Shipyards contacted ACTAtek PTE to provide them the right solutions for their needs. ACTAtek recommended their award winning Time Attendance solution with ACTAtek Agent.

  • IP 65 certified ACTAtek ACTAtek Combination MIFARE® Units used on site for outdoor installation.
  • ACTAtek units are setup in Primary & Secondary formats for unified synchronisation.
  • Every Shipyard worker are assigned an ACTAtek-formatted Mifare Smartcard.
  • To take daily time attendance, the Shipyard worker scans their Mifare Smartcard, followed by placing their Fingerprint for verification.
  • Dual Authentication allows increase accuracy and thus, greatly reduce the chances of FAR (False-Acceptance Ratio).
  • ACTAtek units are placed inside a container for Shipyard workers to take time attendance. Some ACTAtek units are configured as “IN”, while the other units would be configured as “OUT”.
  • Shipyard workers would log their attendance at any of the “IN” ACTAtek units when they are reporting for work. Once they knocked off from work, they would log their attendance at any of the “OUT” ACTAtek units.
  • TCP/IP network connection would be available inside the container.
  • ACTAtek Agent implemented to pool data from units into central server.

BELIZE NATURAL ENERGY LIMITED

Belize Natural Energy is an oil and gas exploration and production company based in Belize in Central America. Their corporate mission is to provide a positive impact the Belizean people by efficiently finding, producing and marketing oil and gas in a healthy, safe, environmentally and socially conscious manner that fosters teamwork, creativity and professionalism.

  • Belize Natural Energy employs approximately around 180 people and still growing.
  • Belize Natural Energy needed to be able to keep track of all of their employee attendance and punctuality records quickly and easily.
  • They were also looking for an Access Control system that can cater their security needs and perimeter management.
  • Previously using log books which was time consuming and can be error prone.

HONG KONG DRAINAGE SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works from the Hong Kong Drainage Services Department is the largest sewage treatment works in Hong Kong in terms of daily output capacity. It is located in Ma Liu Shui, Sha Tin, along the ShingMunRiver, at its mouth into Sha Tin Hoi (Tide Cove).

The drainage services department has 120 employees on site but at the time lacked any formal measures to regulate employee times and access control. Knowing this was an issue, the department contacted ACTAtek to provide them their Time Attendance and Access Control solution.
